Des occasions nettes à la pelle et 0 but marqué, voila comment on peut résumer la quart de finale aller opposant le Barça au Benfica su stade de la Luz à Lisbonne. Les joueurs de Benfica étaient visiblement trop tendus à l’entame du match, au point que le Barca n’a pas forcé pour se créer des occasions très franches pour marquer. D’abord, Ronaldinho, en deux temps a failli marqué sur un coup franc à l’intérieur de la surface du Benfica. Ensuite, Iniesta, après un magnifique slalom ne sut pas ajuster son tir. Par la suite, Deco tout seul trouva le moyen d’envoyer la balle dehors. Idem pour Etoo et Van Bommel par deux fois. Tout ceci en première période ! De toutes les occasions ratées, la deuxième de van Bommel est la plus inadmissible. Car en subtilisant le ballon au gardien adverse, il a voulu marqué dans un angle fermé au lieu de servir Larsson tout seul face à la cage vide…
En seconde période, le Barça a encore dominé son adversaire, tirant, notamment, deux fois sur le poteau par Larsson et Motta. Deco, quant à lui, a, une nouvelle fois, tenté un nombre impressionnant de petits ponts et de sombreros dont la quasi-majorité étaient injustifiés, ce qui faisait perdre bêtement la balle à son équipe. Ce gars là, depuis son arrivée chez les Blaugranas, va de mal en pire. Deco a un volume de déchets dans son jeu qui est impressionnant. Quand le Barça récupérera tous ses blesses, le milieu de terrain devrait être composé de Motta, Xavi et Iniesta.

Ronaldinho, enfin, a été encore une fois, l’homme le plus déterminant de son équipe. D’abord, il a encore donné 3 4 ou passes de buts très nettes et il a donné des solutions à son équipe au milieu de terrain. Lui et Iniesta étaient les seuls à donner de l’ordre et du bon sens au jeu du Barça.
